My Story

The journey of The Mesij started around five years ago with a simple yet powerful idea. I’m a voracious reader and a passionate researcher who noticed a recurring theme among most blogs: they were all pretty much the same. The articles were predictable, the topics redundant, and there was a distinct lack of diversity in content. I wanted something different – a blog that wasn’t afraid to tackle the risqué, the unusual, and the downright intriguing. Thus, The Mesij was born (phonetically spelling out “message” for that extra flair). The mission was clear: to create a space where real-life stories could be told, practical advice could be given, and readers could find content that was both interesting and useful.

I write like I talk—with warmth, wit, and way too many tabs open in my head
I’m raising neurodivergent kids while unmasking decades of my own
I believe emotional honesty is a superpower, not a weakness
I don’t do toxic positivity or 5am miracle routines
I started The Mesij to help people who feel too weird for the world but too wise to stay small

The Cult of Celebrity Worship

What even is a celebrity anymore? Once upon a time, celebrities were unicorns. You’d see them gliding across the screen at the Oscars or waving from the back of a limo. Now? They’re everywhere and nowhere. A YouTuber with 3 million subscribers. A Love Island runner-up with a teeth-whitening discount code. Your neighbour’s niece who’s…

Why can’t black people swim

The Mesij4 weeks ago6 days ago011 mins

Now, I can practically see some of you rolling your eyes, muttering, “Really?” or “Seriously?” Well, yes hold your horses!   Here’s the thing: I’ve spent over 40 years trying to get the knack of swimming, and let me tell you, it hasn’t exactly been a splashy success. I’m not scared of water, mind you, it’s…

Under Where? The Case of Skipping Knickers

The Mesij1 month ago6 days ago07 mins

Halle Berry turned heads at this year’s Met Gala, strutting in a gown so ethereal it practically whispered across the red carpet. She looked absolutely divine,  but not everything was left to the imagination. One detail (or lack thereof) caught public attention faster than a TikTok scandal: she wasn’t wearing any underwear. Yes, indeed. Not…

Designer Shoes & Beauty Standards Madness

Beauty Standards Across Empires: What We Inherited and Why It’s Bonkers Beauty standards have crossed oceans, toppled empires, and caused more women to curse in changing rooms than perhaps anything else in history. Somewhere along the way, from Cleopatra’s kohl eyeliner to today’s five-inch stilettos, we inherited a fair few expectations that are, frankly, bonkers….

Being Too Pretty To Be Taken Seriously

Exploring the Hidden Biases and Stereotypes That Haunt Beautiful Women in Society and the Workplace Let’s set the scene: you walk into a room, glowing, glammed, and God-given gorgeous, feeling pretty! Only to have your intelligence quietly dismissed like a forgotten side salad. Instead of being asked about your strategy, you’re asked about your skincare….

Explaining the whiff of the BBL

The Mesij2 months ago6 days ago08 mins

The BBL Smell No One Warns You About You book the BBL thinking you’re on your way to a new era of peachy perfection. You imagine Beyoncé-level curves, jeans fitting like dreams, and all the compliments. What you don’t imagine? Sniffing the air like a bloodhound and wondering, “Is that… me?” Oh yes darling, there’s…

Are Lash Extensions Really Worth It?

The Mesij2 months ago6 days ago114 mins

I was never really blessed in the lash department, to be honest. When I was younger, my lashes were short, gnarly, and so curly they looked like they were trying to loop back into my eyelids. No mascara on earth could tame them—believe me, I tried everything short of duct tape. Fast forward to now,…

Enduring The Embarrassment Of Going Make Up Free

The Mesij2 months ago6 days ago28 mins

Still Got Your War Paint On? Why Makeup-Free Faces Feel So Radical I don’t wear makeup everyday anymore. Can’t be bothered, to be honest. The older I get, the less I feel like it. And oddly enough, the less I do it, the more alive I feel when I do get dolled up—for a proper…
